Building Accomplices: Becoming a Great Ally in the Workplace

  • Abdul-Wakil M. Kamal Foundation 2035 Shenandoah Avenue St. Louis, MO, 63104 United States (map)

Workplace dynamics can be difficult to navigate no matter what the race, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc. you are. When you combine all of these differences into one work environment, it can either be an amazing, inclusive experience or it can be toxic to all but a few. The key to ensuring that it is inclusive is learning how to be a good ally to people from diverse backgrounds.

In this workshop, we will discuss how to address the key issues that can occur when a workplace is diverse but not inclusive. Topics will include the following:

  • varied experiences people of color may have in toxic work environments

  • examples of inclusive behaviors in work culture

  • characteristics and actions that allies display

  • building “your muscles” to create an inclusive environment

  • ways to partner with others to change the work climate

  • Tips for evaluating and adjusting to ensure continued growth

Participants will have the opportunity to listen, learn, journal, discuss, and reflect.

Registration form must be fully completed.
