"Creating Norms" Sample Lesson Plan
This activity is a guided activity intended to help students create the norms that they AND the teacher will follow in the classroom.
Rationale: By allowing the students to discuss the values and behaviors that are important to them, they are allowed to immediately bring their perspectives into the classroom as part of the predetermined cultural norms that all the individuals in the classroom will follow.
Extension: When behavioral issues occur within the class, the teacher can review the norms with specific individuals or the whole class as a reminder and reference.
